On Saturday May 2nd the Miners Split up in Bismarck as most of the team went to Shiloh for the Hunter Seifert Memorial while a few Throwers went to the Community Bowl for the 701 Throws Fest. The Miners battled the wind but ended the day having event champs at both meets and even broke a school record.
The Girls team had a good day at Shiloh with them having 2 event champs along with 3 2nd place finishes and 8 PR's on the day. Addison Schepp won both the 300m Hurdles and 100m Hurdles. Addison's win in the 100m Hurdles with a time of 15.08 broke the previous record of 15.1 held by Shelby Schneider which was set in 2008. Congratulation Addison on breaking another record this season. Addison also helped teammates Isabelle Schnaidt, Maci Schnaidt, and Braelyn Hottman run their best time in the 4x100 and taking 2nd place. The 4x100 team ran a 52.34 and is now only 0.2 off the qualifying mark. This time is 10th all time in school history. Addison was not done adding her name to the top 10 list. She also ran the 200m dash and ran a time of 27.97 placing 7th at the meet and now is 10th in school history with that time. The Miners other 2nd place finishes were Elva Jasso in the 300m hurdles and RyLee Yantzer in the 1600m run. The Girls picked up other placers in Braelyn Hottman (Javelin, 300m Hurdles), Ella Pierce (Discus), and Isabelle Schnaidt (High Jump). The team also had the 4x100 B team take 8th with a team made of Giulia Cabras, Chloe Kalvoda, Hannah Perez, and Emma Dschaak. The 4x200 took 6th with team members Brooklyn Byrum, Tinley Kraft, Blakeley Schnaidt, and Chloe Kalvoda. Then the 4x400 A made up of 3 sisters Maci, Isabelle, and Blakeley Schnaidt along with teammate Brooklyn Byrum took 3rd. The 4x400 B took 4th with a team made up of Paige Elliott, Gabriela Kruger, Vienna Tolosky, and Chloe Kalvoda. The Girls team placed 4th overall out of 18 teams and had a lot of great moments as a group.
The Boys squad was a bit smaller then usual due to a lot of different things on Saturday. The Boys still had one 2nd place finisher on the day in Cooper Schepp in the 300m Hurdles. Cooper also placed in the Long Jump as well. The boys also had Corbin Wolstenholm place in the 300m hurdles, Owen Ziman place in the 800m, and Daniel Blackhurst placed in the 1600m. Owen ran a time of 2:16.56 which now puts him 9th in school history and Daniel improved his time in the 1600m to 4:54.72 which moved him up to 7th all time. The Boys 4x400 placed 5th and was made up of Cooper Schepp, Sebastian Nichols, Owen Ziman, and Daniel Blackhurst. The Boys took 13th out of 18 teams.
At the 701 Throws Fest the Miners had 4 Girls and 2 Boys compete. These athletes had to be in the top 60 entries from Class A and Class B teams to throw in the meet. The day was started by a visit and speech given by Professional Thrower Meggie Ewen. The Miners had one event champ and 2 other placers at the meet. Addison Dale Geiger came in as the Best Girls Javelin Thrower and she finished the day that way. Addison threw the Javelin 116' 8" and won a T-Shirt for placing 1st. Tori Ziman also placed 7th in Javelin with a new best throw of 101' 11". Malayah Williams also had new best throw in the Shot Put with a throw of 39' 10.25" and placed her 4th overall. Malayah keeps getting closer to that 40' mark. The Boys did pickup a new state qualifier on the day in Anthony Hallett in the Discus as he threw 137' 10". This throw would only place15th overall at the meet. Congrats to Anthony on making it back to state. Overall the Miners had a good day and a preview of what throwing at the state venue could look like.
