The Miners headed west on Tuesday April 28th to Dickinson for the Trinity Booster Meet. 21 teams came to Dickinson for the meet. The Miners had an Up and Down day as a team as some things did not go the Miners way and others had some great performances. The Miner Boys placed 9th out of 21 teams and the Miner Girls placed 3rd out of 20 teams. The Miners didn't pick up anything new qualified but did have 4 kids get on or change spots on the Top 10's and had a lot of PR's.
The Boys had 1 event champ on the day in Cooper Schepp in the 110m Hurdles with a time of 16.20. Two boys who had a good day were Anthony Hallett and Briggs Jensen. Anthony had some good throws in the Discus with multiple back in the 130' range as he moves closer to trying to qualify the Discus again. Anthony also moved up to 4th on the Shot Put list as he threw 46'7". This throw is 2 inches off the qualifying standard for the state meet. Briggs an 8th grader also had a good day as he ran 45.58 in the 300m Hurdles moving him up to 9th on the List. He also place 8th in Long Jump. Daniel Blackhurst added another Top 10 distance event to his List as he placed 4th in the 3200m with a time of 11:15.35. This put him 7th overall on the Top 10. The boys had a lot of athletes improve times and distances on the day but need to fix some consistency in events all over the track and field.
The Girls had 3 events champs on the day in Addison Schepp in the 100m Hurdles and Long Jump and Malayah Williams in Shot Put. Both girls had good marks that were state qualifying marks but did not improve from previous best mark on the season. The girls had one 2nd place finish in the 4x100 relay team made up of Chloe Kalvoda, Addison Schepp, Braelyn Hottman, and Isabelle Schnaidt. Bailey Buchfinck placed in 3 events for the girls as she placed in Shot Put, Discus, and Triple Jump. Paige Elliott put her name on the Top 10 List in the 1600m with a time of 7:03.14. The Girls team welcomed back Emma Dschaak who returned Tuesday from an ACL injury suffered this fall. She was able to race for the first time all season, which was pretty emotional, but also a great Miner moment! The Girls also improved a lot of times and distances on the day.
