Miners have a Rebound Day at Dickinson

The Miners went to Dickinson on Thursday May 7th for a somewhat of a last chance meet. The Miners had a good day overall picking up 2 new qualifiers for state along with 5 new all-time Top 10 performances and 4 new improved Top 10 performances overall. The Miners had a few close marks to qualifying on the day as well. The Miners had 25 total PR's on the day and the Girls finished 2nd as a team while the Boys finished 4th as a team.

On the Girls side of things they had 4 event champs and 1 second place finish on the day. Addison Schepp won the 300m hurdles with a time of 46.16 and won the Triple Jump with a jump of 35' 9". Addison's time in the 300m hurdles moves her to 2nd all-time in school history and her Triple jump was a new PR but still keeps her second all-time. Addison is getting closer to her coach Destinee (Keller) Jensen in the Triple Jump. The 4x100 relay team took first and missed qualifying by .54. Members of the relay are Braelyn Hottman, Isabelle Schnaidt, Maci Schnaidt, and Addison Schepp. The last event champ was Malayah Williams who threw the Shot Put 41' 6". Malayah finally has a throw over 40' and improved her PR but is still 2nd all-time. Malayah also had a good day in Discus as she qualified for the state meet with a throw of 112' 3". Bailey Buchfinck was our one 2nd place finisher on the day. She finished second in Discus and also qualified for state with a throw of 114' 4". This was a new PR for Bailey and moved her to 6th all-time in school history. In the 100m dash Isabelle Schnaidt ran a PR of 13.40 which puts her 10th all-time in school history and knocks of current teammate Emma Dschaak. The 100m dash has a lot of current athletes around that time which will be fun to watch them compete over the next few years. Tinley Kraft had a good day for the Girls team as she PR'd in the 200m dash and Triple Jump. Tinley's new PR of 30' 7" in Triple Jump now puts her 9th all-time in school history. This jump also placed her 8th at the meet. The Girls had 3 events that placed 3 girls. They had Addison (1st), Bailey (7th), and Tinley (8th) in Triple Jump. Bailey (2nd), Malayah (3rd), and Tori Ziman (4th) place in Discus. Tori (4th), Braelyn (7th), and Bailey (8th) place in Javelin. Overall the Girls had 15 new PR's and a lot of SR's (season records) on Thursday. The Girls will look to get a few more things done on Saturday before our regional meet next week.

For the Boys on Thursday they had 1 new School Record, 1 new Top 10, and 1 improved performance in the Top 10. The boys had 1 event champ and two 2nd place finishes on Thursday. Cooper Schepp won the 110m Hurdles with a time of 16.02. He broke his School Record from last year in the event. With Cooper being a freshman we look forward to him trying to lower his record over the next few years. The two second place finishes came from Cooper in the 300m hurdles and the 4x800 relay team. The 4x800 relay was made up of team members Hudson Scheurer, Elijah Moch, Owen Ziman, and Colton Moch. Anthony Hallett added two 3rd places finishes in the Shot Put and Discus. Daniel Blackhurst improved his time in the 800m run but is still 8th all-time. Corbin Wolstenholm had a good day for the boys with placing 6th in the Triple Jump and helped the 4x100 relay place 4th. Corbin had a good jump of 36' 11" in the Triple Jump. This jump moved Corbin to 10th all-time in school history. Corbin is only an 8th grader. The Boys team has really leaned on it's youth to fill some spots as the year has gone on as the team only has 5 Seniors and 2 Juniors on the team this season. The Boys team had 10 PR's and a lot of SR's on the day. The Boys will use Saturday's meet as a way to figure out who will fill spots for the team before regionals next week.
