Miners Have a Good Day during a Split Squad Day.

The Miners divided up on Tuesday April 15th. The Throwers headed to Hazen for a throwers dual while the rest headed to Washburn for the Southern McLean Invite. The Miner Girls took 4th out of 14 team while the boys took 5th out of 14 teams in Washburn. The Miners had 33 PR's on the day in Washburn. They also picked up a new event qualified in the girl's Triple Jump. Addison Schepp jumped 34' 0.5" which is just over qualifying. Addison qualified this event last year as well. At the throwers meet the throwers had18 PR's.


On the Girls side in Washburn they had 1 Event Champ in Hannah McGraw with Pole Vault. They had 5 other Top 3 finishes on the day with Addison Schepp taking 2nd in the 100m dash and Triple Jump. They got 3rd place finishes from RyLee Yantzer in the 1600m, Emaley Keller in Javelin, and Bailey Buchfinck in Discus. The Miners did see improvement in their 4x100 Relay as they get closer to qualifying time for the relay. In Hazen the girls had 4 girls throwers over 92' in discus with Malayah Williams, Eva Unruh, Tori Ziman, and Paige Sailer. They then had 6 girls place in the shot put. With 3 of the girls throwing the shot over 29' and Malayah Williams winning it with a throw of 37' 5". They also had 2 place in the Javelin. Overall between both the meets the girls showed a lot of improvement as a team.


For the Boys they had 1 Event Champ in Shane Schmidt with Javelin. The Miner boys had 5 other Top 3 finishes on the day just like the girls. The boys had Cayden Isaak place 2nd in shot put. Austin Mittlesteadt place 3rd in the 300m hurdles with teammate Cooper Schepp just beating him for 2nd place. The boys also had 2 relays place 3rd in the 4x400 and the 4x800 relays. The boys had 3 of 4 relays run times as fast or faster than their fastest relays last year. In Hazen the boys had 4 boys place in the shot put with Ray Lundstrom winning it with a throw 41' 10.5". They boys had 3 place in the discus as well. The boys did not have any Javelin throwers at the meet. The Miner Boys had a lot of good performances on the day.




The Miners will have a break in meet action with holiday break coming up. The Miners will be back for more Track & Field action on Thursday April 24th in Hazen for the Badlands Conference then head out the next day to Rugby for another big meet.
