Miners Enjoy a Early Start to Season.

The Miners headed southwest to Bowman on Tuesday March 24th for an early invite meet. The Miners had a pretty good start to the season with having 2 girls state qualify at the meet. On the day the Miners had 35 new PR's (Personal Records) set along with a school record being broken. The Team had a total of 7 event champions at the meet. The Miner Boys placed 4th out of 8 teams while the Miner Girls place 1st out of 8 teams.
On the boys side the team had 1 event champ on the day in Jonas Braun in the 100 meter dash. The boys had 2 other placers in the 100 meter in Zyon Phelps (5th) and Noah Richter (6th). Jonas also took 5th in the 200 meter and had teammate Rhyse Unruh take 8th. The boys had 5 boys place in the 800 meter as well on the day. On the Field side the boys had 4 boys make the finals in shot put with 3 of them placing in Anthony Hallett (3rd), Ray Lundstrom (4th) and Brady Schaner (8th). The boys also had 3 boys making finals in Discus as well with Brady finishing 3rd and Ray finishing 7th. The boys had a total of 19 new PR's on the day. The boys had a good day despite being short handed do to athletes still coming of other season sports and activities.
The Girls had a great day with having 6 event champs and 2 girls qualify for the state meet. To start the day off Addison Schepp qualified for the state meet in Long Jump. During the competition Addison also set the School Record in the event with a jump of 17' 8". Addison beat the previous mark held by Kinsey Zuroff by an inch. Addison had a great day with winning the Long Jump, 100 meter, 100 Hurdles, and 4x100 relay. Addison also qualified the 100 meter hurdles and entered the top 10 in the 100 meter on the day as well. The other girl to qualify for the state meet was Malayah Williams in the shot put. Malayah qualified on her first throw of the day and improved to her best mark of 36' on the day. Both Malayah and Addison are no strangers to qualifying for the state meet. The throwing events for the girls had a good showing to start the season. They had 5 girls make the finals in the shot put with 3 placing in Malayah taking 1st, Maci Kalvoda 5th, and Eva Unruh 7th. The girls also had 3 placers in discus in Malayah (2nd), Eva (3rd), and Kinsee Huntimer (7th). In the Javelin Braelyn Hottman took 2nd. In other field events the girls had 3 place in long jump with Addison (1st), Tinley Kraft (4th), and Giulia Cobras (7th). High jump also saw 3 girls place in Elva Jasso (3rd), Paige Elliott (4th), and Isabelle Schnaidt (5th). The other individual event champ was RyLee Yantzer who won the 800 meter and had teammate Vienna Tolosky place 7th in the event as well. The girls only had 1 relay on the day with the 4x100 and they made great work with the baton and took 1st. Members of the relay are Isabelle Schnaidt, Addison Schepp, Braelyn Hottman, and Maci Schnaidt. Overall the girls had a great day from a lot of events on the track and in the field.
On the day beside Addison having a school record and a top 10 performance. 3 other Miners joined or moved up on the Top 10. Anthony Hallett moved up to 5th on the list in shot put with his throw of 44' 4". 2 girls entered the Top 10 in high jump Elva Jasso and Paige Elliot jumped 4' 6" which ties them for 8th with teammate Isabelle Schnaidt.

Miners had a great start to the season and will have a few days to train before the whole team is back at it on Tuesday March 31st in Bowman. The Miner throwers will be back on Friday March 27th at that school out east (Hazen) for a throwers meet.
