Miners Come up Short at Last Chance but Look Forward to the Region Meet.

The Miners headed to Dickinson for the Trinity Last Chance Meet on Tuesday May 13th. The Miners took only a limited amount of kids on Tuesday for one last chance before the regional meet. The Miners took 6th place out of 14 for both the boys and girls. The team had a total of 13 PR's on the day.
The Girls had 2 event champs on the day with Braelyn Hottman in the 300m hurdles and the 4x100. They had one second place finish on the day with Emaley Keller in Javelin. The girls did not re-qualify or qualify anything new on the day but will look to the region meet to get more kids to the State Meet.
The Boys had 3 event champs on the day with Cooper Schepp in the Long Jump and 300m Hurdles and the 4x200 relay team. The boys had two 2nd place in Austin Mittelsteadt in the 300m Hurdles and the 4x100 relay team. The Boys 4x100 missed qualifying by .1 on the day. The boys team will have to turn to the region meet to qualify more events for the State Meet.

Here is a preview of how some of the Miners rank in the Southwest Region. At the region meet a team can only enter a max of 5 Athletes per event and 1 relay team per relay. Athletes are limited to 4 events per meet which is the same as the regular season. Each Athlete that is listed below may not be doing all their best events. Some kids are needed for relays, need rest time, or conflict with other events. For an Athlete to qualify for the State Meet an Athlete must run/jump/throw the state qualifying mark during the outdoor season or Place Top 3 at the regional meet.
On the Girls side of events they have RyLee Yantzer ranked 6th in the 200m and 7th in the 1600m and 3200m. They have 3 girls in the top 10 in the 100m hurdles with Addison Schepp 1st, Emma Dschaak 9th and Braelyn Hottman 10th. They also have 3 in the top 8 of the 300m hurdles in Addison Scheep 3rd, Braelyn Hottman 6th, and Elva Jasso 8th. The 4x100 and 4x200 rank 3rd while the 4x400 ranks 6th. Malayah Williams is 1st in Shot Put. While in Discus the Miners have 4 girls in the Top 10 with Malayah Williams 4th, Paige Sailer 5th, Bailey Buchfinck 9th, and Tori Ziman 10th. In Javelin the girls have Addison Dale-Geiger 4th, Emaley Keller 5th, and Braelyn Hottman 7th. In High Jump Brooklyn Byrum is ranked 5th and in Long and Triple Jump Addison Schepp is ranked 1st. Hannah McGraw is ranked 1st in Pole Vault.
For the Boys they have Cooper Schepp who is 1st in the 110m Hurdles and Cooper is ranked 8th in the 100m. They have 3 in the Top 10 in the 300m Hurdles with Cooper 2nd, Austin Mittelsteadt 3rd, and Zyon Phelps 10th. The 4x100 and 4x200 relays are ranked 3rd and the 4x800 is ranked 5th. In Shot Put Ray Lundstrom is 7th and Anthony Hallett is 8th. Anthony is ranked 7th in Discus. Shane Schmidt is ranked 4th in the Javelin. In Long Jump Austin Mittelsteadt is 1st while Cooper Schepp is 5th.
The Miners will be back in Dickinson for the Southwest Region Meet on Saturday May 17th. The meet starts at 11:30 CT on Saturday.
