Miner Throwers have a Great Day in That Town Out East.

The Miner throwers headed the 8 miles east to That Town Out East (Hazen) for a throwers meet on Friday March 27th. The Miners had a lot of strong performances from both the boys and girls on the day. Both the boys and girls took 1st at the meet out of the 6 teams at the meet. The girls picked up 1 new state qualifier with with boys having a few inch closer to the qualifying mark. Overall the team had 6 new PR's and a lot of kids picking up season best on their second meet of the year.

On the girls side of things the day got started with discus. The girls had 4 girls improve their season marks for the meet last Tuesday. They also had 3 girls make discus finals in Malayah Williams, Tori Ziman, and Bailey Buchfinck. Each girl their the discus throw over the 100' mark during the meet. Malayah 101' 6", Tori 102' 11", and Bailey 106' 11". The girls placed 7th, 5th, and 3rd. Each girl keeps getting closer to the New State Standard of 112'. In the Shot Put the girls had a pretty good day as well with having 2 girls improving their season marks and having 4 girls around the 28' plus mark. Malayah improved her PR to 39' 1.5" which still keeps her 2nd on our top 10 list but she keeps getting closer to the School Record of 44' 6" which is held by Christine Shereck. Malayah ended up 2nd at the meet. The girls had great day in javelin with having almost all their javelin throwers back throwing on the day. The girls had 4 girls make the finals in Tori Ziman, Reegan Ahlschlager, Braelyn Hottman, and Addison Dale-Geiger. Tori placed 7th with a throw of 89' 10" and Reegan took 6th with a throw of 92' 6". Both are off to a good start to the year with their first throws. Braelyn improved her season best to 99' 11" and took 3rd. The big throw and new qualifier on the day was Addison Dale-Geiger when she hit a mark of 122' 1" and taking 1st. This put her way past the new State Standard of 112' and now has her sitting 2nd on the javelin top 10 list. Addison has a busy spring for the Miners as she is also one of our softball teams best pitchers. Overall the girls had a great day at the meet with improvement and great performances while taking First overall.

The Boys also had a great day despite only have 4 boys throw during the meet. The day started with Javelin and the boys only javelin thrower in Noah Richter. Noah had a good start to the year with a throw of 107' 10" which placed him 6th. In Shot Put the boys had 3 throwers and they had a great day throwing with Brady Schaner, Anthony Hallett, and Ray Lundstrom. The 3 boys went into finals sitting 1,2,3. With each boy having some good marks going into finals. After the finals Brady Schaner placed 4th while improving his PR by almost 3'. Anthony ended 2nd with a 40' 2.5" throw and Ray had a great throw of 46' 5". This moved Ray to 4th on the Top 10 list. Ray just missed state qualifying by 4". The last event of the day was discus and the boys had a great day in that as well as Ray, Anthony, and Brady all made finals and placed 3rd, 2nd, and 1st. Ray threw a new PR 116' 10" and Anthony hit a mark of 120' 2". Brady had a big day in the Discus he hit a throw of 132' 1". This throw is a new PR by 7 feet and he only needs 3 feet to hit the State Standard of 135'. With just the 4 boys they had an impressive performance and won the boys side.

The Miners had a great day on Friday. We want to thank Coach Ward and Coach Sorensen for having the throwers meet Friday and allowing us and all the other athletes a chance to compete at the meet. The Miners are back in action as a full team on Tuesday March 31st in Bowman.
